Mount Ventoux although part of the Alps, many people think it belongs to another mountain range since it towers over everything nearby. At 1,909 m (6,263 ft), it is the highest mountain in the region and has been nicknamed the “Bald Mountain” the “Beast of Provence”, or “Giant of Provence”.
The wind blows at over 90 km/h (56 mph) for 240 days a year. The top is devoid of any vegetation. The limestone cap covering the peak gives the Ventoux a lunar like atmosphere.
